As of Tuesday, the United States Army has officially approved the use of Hypori Halo, a virtual bring-your-own device (or BYOD) capability developed by cybersecurity startup Hypori. This means service members in the Army, Army National Guard and Army Research will now be allowed to securely access everything from work emails to NIPRNet from their personal mobile devices with complete privacy.
Headquartered in Reston, Virginia with a tech hub here in Austin, Hypori aims to enable secure access to data from any mobile device anywhere. Its Hypori Halo platform is designed to isolate and protect users’ privacy, personal data and organizational data, as well as minimize any risk of data loss and eliminate the risk of malware. Halo provides NSA Commercial Solution for Classified (CSfC) access and is HIPAA-compliant, making it an ideal solution not just in defense, but also in healthcare and financial services.
Jared Shepard, Hypori’s president and CEO, said in a statement that the company has been focused on bringing its platform to the Army for the last year and a half, and that “this is just the beginning.” Going forward, Hypori plans to develop new features, enhance its user experience and invest in its customer service side.
