Today’s brightest tech companies are searching for fresh ways to grow into better businesses — and the brightest tech talent is thinking similarly about their careers.
87 percent of working professionals agree that career development is essential to keeping pace with the ever-changing workforce, according to a study from Pew Research. Tech companies that want to bring the best talent along for the ride understand that investing in employee development is a win for everyone.
Take Redgate Software, a DevOps organization with a “commitment to fostering a people-first culture” that empowers employees to learn and evolve to be the best at what they do, making them one of Built In Austin’s top companies hiring today. Built In Austin had the chance to catch up with Redgate’s Inside Sales Representative, Freda Okundaye, to get a sense of what its people-first culture looks like.
Redgate Software offers end-to-end database DevOps to help enterprises streamline software development and surface value from their data faster.
Describe Redgate’s company culture in one word. What made you pick that word?
Unusual.
I picked this word because I’ve never been in an environment where I felt valued as an individual — while also feeling valued within the team and the organization as a whole. When I was applying for an internal role, I was amazed by how willing people were to help me succeed given that it was the last month of the quarter. This reinforced my thoughts about Redgate as a company that is truly people-oriented.
I learned that sales does not have to be cutthroat. People here genuinely want to see each other succeed. That is a priceless quality in my eyes — because it is one thing for people to say “We are here for you,” and it is another to experience day in and day out. I am grateful and extremely blessed by the support and opportunity I have received here at Redgate. It is truly beautiful and unique.

How long have you been with the company, and what professional growth or development have you seen in that time?
I have been at Redgate for six months now, and I can honestly say that I’ve thought “This is too good to be true.” I do not have a technical background, and SQL or DevOPs seemed like a foreign language to me. I still have a lot of learning to do, but I’ve learned so much. I’m having conversations with industry professionals and helping people understand how our tools can assist them in their everyday processes.
I have also grown within my team as a resource and a leader. I have learned that feedback is truly a gift and what matters is how you move forward. My goal is to take advantage of the opportunities and resources available to me and apply them to my continuous development.
