Healthcare in the U.S. is complex. Even for insured patients, there is a mess of documents and bills with every doctor’s visit, and it is often a mystery how much patients will pay out of pocket for their treatment. Nomi Health wants to simplify medical payments with its online platform, and it recently opened a regional office in Austin as the healthcare provider expands nationwide.

Nomi Health, a healthcare provider based in Utah, announced its new Austin office on Wednesday. According to the company, the new office will further its partnership with the state of Texas and is one of the four new offices Nomi Health plans to open in the U.S.

“Texas is my home, and it is home to nearly 60 Nomi Health employees at our Austin office and other dedicated team members statewide. From the capital to the border, the biggest cities and the smallest towns, we are deeply committed to helping Texas thrive by rewiring how care is paid for and delivered,” Boe Hartman, co-founder and CTO of Nomi Health, said in a statement. “Whether administering Covid-19 and monkeypox vaccines or advocating for sweeping healthcare policy changes, we are driven to improve healthcare statewide and plan to continue growing our presence here to do so.”

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Nomi Health operated mobile care units across Texas that offered Covid testing and later vaccines. Now the company wants to continue its work in Texas and develop new tech to make healthcare more affordable for everyone.

Through the Nomi Health platform, businesses that provide healthcare benefits to their employees can purchase health services directly from providers. This eliminates much of the payment processing that traditionally involves multiple parties and reduces the overall cost of care. Nomi Health has helped several enterprise organizations implement health solutions, including Goldman Sachs, Barclays and Capital One.

According to Nomi Health, its plan saves buyers up to 30 percent on healthcare costs. Its payment platform also helps healthcare providers get paid instantly for their services.
