Big business moves and product releases might have slowed down for some companies over the last year, but the Austin tech scene remains steady. With the number of people in the state capital projected to rise to over 2 million in 2021, thanks in part to the thriving local tech scene, industry roles are growing faster than the bluebonnets starting to line the highways.

As temperatures begin climbing to uncomfortable heights and people start breaking out their paddle boards on Lady Bird Lake, these three companies are finding their cool in the new quarter. Built In Austin broke down who they are, what they’ve been up to and why their team members stay loyal.

See something you like? A couple of these companies are currently hiring.

What they do: Liquibase creates database automation software for the systems management market in order to speed up database releases for software development teams. Its platform can also simulate future changes before they’re deployed to review the impact they will have on the application.

Employee buzz: “Liquibase is composed of people who are driven to make a difference every day, striving to make an impact in the lives of our customers and within the company,” CFO Patti Soch previously told Built In. “We don’t shy away from challenges — in fact, one of our guiding pillars speaks to just that. We live by the principle ‘run to trouble’ and encourage our employees to tackle challenges head-first in an agile and innovative way.”

Client roster: Liquibase’s client list boasts UPS, Ticketmaster, NetJets, MedImpact, IBM Watson Health, and more.

What they do: Redgate Software creates products for SQL Server, Azure and .NET, enabling teams and users to follow DevOps best practices, improve productivity and monitor database performance.

Employee buzz: “A driving principle at Redgate is one of our value statements: ‘We do our best work in teams,’” Customer Success Manager Josh Byus previously told Built In. “We really believe in it too, because it encourages employees to be open and giving across departments to drive efficiency and innovation. Working together for the greater good strengthens this internal team-based mentality by showing how Redgate as a whole builds its relationship with the communities where our employees live.”

Stepping up: Through their “Give Something Back” initiative, Redgate contributes to the local community by organizing charitable and volunteer activities for employees monthly. Previous philanthropy and outreach has included planting trees with TreeFolks, volunteering at the Austin Pets Alive! animal shelter and wrapping holiday presents for in-need families with Blue Santa. Their GSB team has also made donations to nonprofits that assist K-12 STEM educational programs like Wayside Schools and The Trevor Project’s LGBTQ suicide prevention campaign.

What they do: Aceable is a mobile education platform that’s focused on creating affordable, engaged and convenient educational content. Offering training and certification courses like driver’s ed, real estate education and defensive driving, the self-paced platform has produced more than 400,000 graduates to date.

Employee buzz: “In 2020, we made tremendous strides in restructuring our platform so that we are well-poised to expand our offerings beyond driver’s education and real estate to verticals yet to be announced,” Project Manager Siedah Rhoads previously told Built In. “In the meantime, I’m looking forward to delivering our students more best-in-class interactivities and in-app guidance, as well as more inclusive content that reflects the diverse populations we serve. In 2021, we’ll also be making improvements to our learning management system to help increase our team’s velocity in content development.”

Notable perks: The company offers an annual education stipend. That resource can be job-related (like taking SEO or JavaScript classes) or related to a personal growth (like painting or improv workshops).
