For those of us who feel the need to get out into the great wide open and breathe some fresh air in the wilderness, a Google search doesn't always yield the greatest of results.
Austin-based startup RoverPass plans to fix that problem, and aims to make it easier to find and book the best campsites and RV parks. They're making the point of entry more accessible for first-time campers and simpler for people who want a more seamless way to discover new places where they can get away from it all.
Founded in 2014 by Ravi Parikh of MakerSquare, Paul Cross of Ticketbud and Jay Manickam of uShip, RoverPass plans to help explorers find campsites and RV parks, as well as long-term RV parking options, and give them a singular access point to connect, make reservations and pay securely online. Currently ramping up for a beta launch, the site is collecting signups from interested future users.
"2015 is going to be a huge year for us in many ways, all of which will be laser focused on making our booking service simple to use for both camping consumers and our B2B customers," Jacob Poterbin, RoverPass's business development and marketing manager, said. "When we do that, we expect rapid growth for our website to serve campers across the U.S. as well as opportunities for additional fundraising rounds."
For the time being, the RoverPass blog offers tips for fledgling outdoor adventurers.
RoverPass has 11 employees and is signing up beta users, campsites and RV parks as it looks to hire a campground recruitment representative, a content marketing and community coordinator, and a copywriting intern.
