MVF Global may be headquartered in the United Kingdom, but its presence in Austin is growing rapidly. Over the last 18 months, the Austin office has expanded from a single sales team to include both marketing and operations.

The key to this rapid growth is collaboration. James Murphy, vice president of paid marketing, told Built In that having all three teams in the same place and working closely has led to huge success. “Members of all three teams have presented unique insights from their areas of expertise, leading to us securing record-breaking budgets in 2023,” he said.

Murphy has experienced professional growth personally at MVF, too. Over the last seven years, he’s worked across several marketing channels, served as an individual contributor and been promoted into management. Last year, he took the leap to move from the U.K. to Austin, where he is building out the U.S. team — growing the marketing team in Austin from zero to 10 members over the last few months.

This room for growth, both personally and organizationally, is what makes MVF one of Built In Austin’s top companies hiring right now.

Describe your company culture in one word. What made you pick that word?

Collaborative.

Over the past 18 months, we have introduced two completely new teams to our Austin office, which previously only housed our U.S. sales organization. With our company HQ in the U.K., one of the primary reasons for doing this was to improve the collaboration between our three main functions of sales, operations and marketing and create a fully autonomous team in what is our biggest market.

We have built a highly collaborative environment in Austin where all three teams are constantly learning from one another and helping each other perform better in their respective roles. This has been exemplified by the collaboration seen in some of our biggest client relationships. Members of all three teams have presented unique insights from their areas of expertise, leading to us securing record-breaking budgets in 2023.

Within our marketing function specifically, we regularly run team ideation sessions focused on our ad creatives and the content of our websites. This allows individuals to put forward their ideas, receive constructive feedback from their peers and ultimately launch winning tests to drive business performance.

How long have you been with the company, and what professional growth or development have you seen in that time?

I have worked at MVF for over seven years. I started my career in the paid search team in our London office before moving through the ranks into a broader marketing leadership role two years ago. This year, I took the leap to move to Austin from the U.K. to head up the marketing team here and supercharge our growth in the U.S. market through the hiring of local talent.

In my time at MVF, I have been lucky enough to work across more than five marketing channels, operate in both management and individual contributor roles, learn a range of hard and soft skills and now have the pleasure of building out our U.S. team. We are growing fast in the U.S. and have increased the size of our local marketing team from zero people 18 months ago to more than 10 today — and we’re still growing.

MVF offers people a route to progress quickly, develop their own skills and have a real impact on how the business works and performs.
