News from the Austin tech scene was slow last week as workers returned from Memorial Day weekend. That didn’t stop Accenture from announcing a major acquisition, however. Read more in the Built In Austin Weekly Refresh.

These companies raised a collective $396M in May. The Austin tech scene saw a spate of major funding rounds in May for biotech, fintech and video surveillance startups. E-commerce-focused fintech startup 8fig led the pack with $140 million raised, and Eagle Eye Networks scored a cool $100 million. Other rounds include rare earth magnet manufacturer Noveon Magnetics, payments processing startup Episode Six and brain-computer interface startup Paradromics. [Built In Austin]

Accenture acquired NextiraNextira, which uses Amazon Web Services technology to create predictive analytics tools and immersive user experiences, was acquired by Accenture last week. Nextira, which was founded in 2008 and has just under 70 employees, will become part of the Accenture AWS Business Group. [Business Wire]
