Austin tech companies made moves early last week raising funds before South by Southwest kicked off. In addition to funding rounds and new hires, Built In featured a school-centric metaverse startup participating in Startup Village at SXSW. (There are also two local companies competing in the SXSW pitch competition this year.)

Coherent Logix secured $85M. Founded in 2015, Coherent Logix works with businesses in the Space 2.0, defense and other industries providing them with low-power, high-performance software and hardware. Led by Atlas Credit Partners, Coherent Logix’s latest raise will help the Austin-based company expand into several markets, including artificial intelligence and commercial edge. [Built In Austin]
Overhaul pulled in $73M. Austin-based Overhaul’s platform provides real-time data and insights about freight transportation for supply chain businesses along the supply chain. Overhaul’s latest raise consists of $38 million in equity and $35 million in debt. The fresh capital will help the company further expand its global footprint and fund its acquisition of SensiGuard. StudentVerse was featured in the Built In Future 5 series. As part of our quarterly series featuring up-and-coming tech companies, we featured a Web3-enabled edtech startup. StudentVerse is developing a learning environment based in the metaverse that school districts can use as for in-person or hybrid learning. Mothership hired a new COO. Logistics company Mothership helps businesses streamline their freight operations. Its freight marketplace offers real-time tracking, same-day delivery, digital documentation and more. Michael Miller was recently hired as the company’s new COO. Miller, who has more than 15 years of relevant experience, will help Mothership grow its business. [Built In Austin]
Outdoorsy received national recognition. RV rental marketplace Outdoorsy was named the fourth most innovative company in the world by Fast Company. The marketplace has booked more than 5 million RV rentals since its launch in 2015 and currently serves 4,800 cities in the U.S. and Canada.
