AlertMedia celebrated the grand opening Tuesday of its new headquarters at RiverSouth, a new 15-story building situated between downtown Austin and the South Congress district.

AlertMedia’s 68,000-square-foot office occupies the top two floors of the building, giving employees a panoramic view of Lady Bird Lake, Auditorium Shores and the downtown Austin skyline.

The company said its new headquarters, which is more than double the size of its previous office, is needed to accommodate its growing workforce. The company has hired more than 200 employees this year, bringing its employee headcount to 453.

Founded in 2013, AlertMedia’s two-way emergency communication platform allows companies and employees to share time-sensitive information about severe weather, terrorist attacks and other emergency situations. The company’s global threat intelligence division also identifies emergency situations for companies.

AlertMedia’s technology is used by more than 3,000 businesses, including DHL, JetBlue, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. UNITED and Walmart.

When the new headquarters was first announced in October, AlertMedia founder Brian Cruver told Built In that the company has adopted a hybrid work model, and that he envisioned the new office as “a space for team collaboration, innovation and future planning, problem-solving and celebrations.”

Cruver transitioned to an executive chairman role in March, handing over CEO duties to Christopher Kenessey. Kenessey said in a statement that the new office was built with the hybrid workplace in mind.

“When we began developing our new headquarters, we wanted to create a space that supports different work styles, enables easy collaboration and serves as a destination for both our local and remote teams to come together,” he said. “After multiple years of isolation and fully remote work, we are grateful to have the opportunity to set an example for what the modern, hybrid workplace can look like. To that end, we’ve designed a future-forward office culture that facilitates community, relationship-building, career growth and much more.”

The RiverSouth building at 401 S. 1st St. is the first building in Texas to receive a platinum  SmartScore rating — the highest possible rating — for its sustainability, cost-efficiency, safety and user experience.

AlertMedia employees will have access to patios, private rooftop areas, a fitness studio and a cocktail and coffee bar in the building.
