Rev.com announced Monday plans to hire 130 people and expand its office space in Austin.
Rev is a voice-to-text service that uses AI and human intelligence to transcribe video and audio files. The company, which has offices in Austin and San Francisco, offers audio transcription, video captions and subtitles, and live captioning for Zoom.
Rev added 61 new employees in Austin during the pandemic last year and has plans to hire an additional 130 employees by the end of the year. Most of these positions will be based in Austin and include engineering, sales, product and marketing.
This hiring initiative will nearly double the company’s Austin headcount, which currently sits at approximately 130 employees. Hiring is already underway with 34 positions currently open.
“Rev established its second headquarters in Austin years ago because of the city’s reputation for a great quality of life,” Jason Chicola, CEO of Rev, said in a statement. “Being able to continue to grow even amid a pandemic is a testament to Austin’s spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.”
To accommodate the Austin team, Rev recently grew its local footprint from 12,837 square feet to 14,478 square feet. The office will remain in Hartland Plaza near the intersection of 6th Street and MoPac Boulevard, according to a news release.
Founded in 2010, Rev has more than 170,000 customers, including Google, Facebook and Amazon.
“Rev is a part of a growing technology sector in Austin featuring companies with innovative leaders working with AI to find solutions for businesses and individuals alike,” Charisse Bodisch, Austin Chamber and Opportunity Austin senior vice president of economic development, said in a statement.
Several other AI companies recently announced plans to grow in Austin, including Hypergiant, which plans to open a new office later this year, and Mythic, which is hiring following a recent $70 million funding round.
