2020 is now halfway over, and it’s been a rough start to the year for countless companies — but not A Cloud Guru. On Wednesday, the edtech company shared numbers detailing its recent growth. With this growth, the company has made plans for expansion. A Cloud Guru announced that it’ll be hiring over 90 additional employees by the end of 2020. The company has offices in Austin, Melbourne, London and Fort Worth, but the company told Built In that most of these positions will be for its Austin HQ.

“In order to support our company’s rapid growth, we are prioritizing investments in our team hiring, and Austin is our fastest growing location. In fact, the number of employees based in Austin is three times greater than it was this time last year,” Katie Bullard, A Cloud Guru president, told Built In. “We’re planning to grow our headcount by an additional 90 throughout the rest of 2020; two thirds of these hires will be based in Austin, consisting of a variety positions, such as sales, marketing, customer success, operations, finance, and product management.”

A Cloud Guru is an online education platform where people can learn about various aspects of cloud computing, and undergo training to get professional cloud certifications. More and more companies are adopting aspects of cloud computing into their business and, as a result, the demand for professionals who have the skills to help with this transition are in demand. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic has sped up the shift to digital or cloud operations even more.

In the wake of all this, A Cloud Guru has seen a surge in customer interest. The company announced Wednesday it passed $80 million in annual recurring revenue in June, which is a 362 percent year-over-year increase. In addition, the company’s total user count has grown 157 percent year-over-year to over two million users, and 415 new organizations signed up for the ACG for Business platform in the first five months of 2020.

By growing its team, A Cloud Guru hopes to build off of this momentum to expand what it can do as a company. But this new hiring push is a continuation of its previous team growth. Over the last year, the company’s employee headcount grew 253 percent.

“Our on-demand model is flexible and scalable, and our always-expanding content offering is designed to be consumed regularly, in bite sized chunks, so it fits into the life of busy professionals,” co-founder and CEO Sam Kroonenburg said in a statement. “I am grateful to be leading a company at the intersection of two rapidly accelerating trends — cloud adoption and online learning — and I’m humbled by the growth of the ACG community.”
