Open and unlimited PTO policies certainly are attractive. Employees reap the benefits of having an employer trust them enough to get their work done and take time when they need it. Employers don’t have to worry about their team flooding HR with time-off requests at the end of the year to take unused vacation days.

Plus, it’s a solid perk that can pull in competitive talent.

While not every office is capable of offering this time-off model, we highlighted six in Austin that do.

At just three years old, Dropoff’s perks are off the charts. With an open PTO policy, teammates at the same-day courier delivery startup also get 100-percent employee-paid health benefits, a 401(k) program, stock options, employee discounts and more.

The team at LogicMonitor develops IT performance monitoring solutions — while receiving some awesome PTO perks in return. On top of their unlimited PTO policy, LogicMonitor also offers every employee one week of paid “unplugged” vacation and a $1,000 bonus each year.

RetailMeNot’s open PTO policy complements their culture of taking control of your success. If you need a day off, take it. They also provide their teams with additional opportunities to flex their creative muscles with regularly scheduled hackathon events and their RetailMeNot innovation labs.

Steve Rafferty, ActiveProspect’s CEO, told Built In Austin a few months back that he is committed to fostering a positive and dynamic work environment where people are excited to come to work each day (with or without your dog). But when vacation kicks in or life just happens, Rafferty’s teams enjoys an unlimited PTO policy  — including a day off for your favorite music festival, which the company calls their Live Music Capital Holiday.

In addition to a mentorship program, volunteering opportunities and weekly happy hours, the XO Group (the company behind The Knot, The Bump and The Nest) gives their employees unlimited PTO. Plus, their North Austin office neighbors HopDoddy Burger Bar, a fro-yo shop and an Alamo Drafthouse.

A picnic at Zilker Park sounds nice right about now. And if you’re on the RealMassive team, that picnic might just be in your near future. The Austin startup creates real-time tools that support the commercial real estate space, and makes it known that as part of their collaborative and inclusive environment, employees often gets together for happy hours, local coffee walks, picnics and more. They also offer unlimited vacation, maternity and paternity leave, and flexible working options.
