New App for College Students Launches at Texas UniversitiesAustin-based technology company, EmBazaar, Inc., introduces Skoop  (Austin, Texas)Nov.3, 2014– EmBazaar, Inc., an Austin-based technology company, today introduced its inaugural app, Skoop, to Texas universities. Skoop is the only social network for college students that combinescampus-specific news and events and a student-only marketplace into a centralized platform that is specific to a given university. It is available for free in the iTunes App Store and Google Play for Android. “We created Skoop to simplify college students’ social media experience,” said Neil Patwardhan, founder and chief executive officer of EmBazaar. “Now, there’s a single social network just for students that houses all the information they need and want to know about in one place. The app is filled with news, events and a marketplace, all relevant to a student’s specific university.” EmBazaar launched Skoop in a controlled beta state in mid July and in an extended beta state on Oct. 3. Following Oct. 3, EmBazaar partnered with its campus influencers, roles reserved for students who help spread the word about the app on their campuses, to host launch events at numerous Texas universities, including Texas State University, The University of Texas at Austin, St. Edward’s University, the University of Incarnate Word and Southwestern University. Other campuses using the app across the United States include University of South Carolina, Columbia; Winthrop University; and Tennessee State University. The app’s three key features include heartbeat, a social feed with student-only social posts and news; events, where students can view, create and RSVP to event postings of things happening on or off campus; and a streamlined marketplace for buying, selling and trading student essentials. While Skoop is available at college campuses all over the nation, its features and content remain specific to the students of a given university. This level of relevancy and exclusivity is supported by the app’s two-layer authentication process. In the first layer, students must register for the app with their “.edu” email address. In the second layer, students confirm registration by accessing a unique link sent to that email’s inbox. In addition, when students register for a Skoop account, they are not required to “friend” or follow individual users; rather, they are given access to content from all Skoop users at that university. One group that is benefitting from access to an expansive, university-specific audience is student organizations.  “Skoop is useful to Students for Wema because it allows us to reach a broader base, attract more students to join our organization and spread the word on our cause,” said Madison Gove, UT student and president of Students for Wema, a service organization committed to raising funds for The Wema Children’s Centre in Africa. “I guarantee within five years, Skoop will be the next Facebook on college campuses.” Skoop has partnered with a number of student organizations like Students for Wema to help them raise awareness and funds for their various philanthropic causes. About Skoop Skoop for college students is a social-networking app for campus-specific news and events and a student-only marketplace. Creating successful content is not easy, especially with: increased competition for attention, expanding consumption and delivery models, and audience fragmentation just to name a few. Existing tools and services are just doing more of what doesn't work faster. For instance: native ads aren't credible, syndicated content doesn't drive traffic, curated content primarily drives traffic to others, amplification equals "dumb eyeballs" which promises little to no engagement.Enter Written.Nearly all of the content a brand needs already exists. That content already has readers, and a meaningful and engaged audience. Written licenses content from the Web’s top bloggers. We match a brands audience and keywords to top-ranking content by bloggers that their audience trusts. It’s instant audience, instant visibility, and most importantly, it’s authentic engagement. Our platform automates the entire process of finding, licensing, paying, and publishing the licensed content to a brand site.TECHNOLOGYWritten's core technology identifies and prices content based on a variety of performance metrics. A custom built scalable crawling engine is used to identify ideal content given an input list of keywords. This engine is able to filter out content for a variety of reasons including the type of content and customer provided blacklist.Written's pricing engine leverages a variety of sources to create a comprehensive pricing database. Everything from visitors, keyword value, conversions and more is analyzed for content both in and out of the marketplace. This database is used not only to recommend pricing for those participating in the marketplace, but also to acquire new users.Written uses Wordpress plugins on both author and marketer's websites to move content, traffic and collect analytics. In combination with the pricing engine, Written has the most comprehensive database on the value of content outside of Google.
