These Tech Companies Opened Headquarters in Austin in 2022
When it comes to venture capital funding, Austin is a very active city. Several tech companies have raised nine-figure rounds and many seed-stage companies have also raised capital over the past few years. Last year, Austin was the fourth most active U.S. city for VC raises, proving the state’s capital is the place to be for tech companies of all sizes.
A variety of tech companies have come to call Austin home, including Tesla, Cart.com and others which opened HQs in the city last year. This year is no different. The Austin tech scene remains hot and is attracting top companies from around the world, many of which plan to open a U.S. hub or headquarters in Silicon Hills.
Here are some tech companies that have recently opened or will soon open new HQs in Austin. This article will be updated as more companies make the move to Silicon Hills.

AlertMedia opened a new headquarters in Austin in late September. The company developed an emergency communications platform — used by Walmart, DHL and United, among some 3,000 other businesses — that can relay time-critical information such as terrorist attacks and other emergency situations. AlertMedia’s new HQ is a located a RiverSouth, a 15-story building in downtown Austin, and spans more than 68,000 square feet. It also features a cocktail and coffee bar and panoramic views of the city. Prior to this new location, the company was situated in another office in Austin, but after adding over 200 new employees this year, it needed more space for its growing team.
Ooni Pizza Ovens expanded its Austin-based U.S. HQ in late August. Ooni develops portable pizza ovens that can reach 900 degrees and cook a full-size pizza in one minute. It first opened an Austin office in 2021 with 15 employees. Now it has approximately 60 people on its Austin team which resulted in opening a larger U.S. headquarters in the city. The Scottish company told Built In that it has seen massive success selling its ovens and will grow its local team by 50 percent heading into 2023.
Kiwi Camara and Kent Radford branched out from a Houston law firm in 2012 to form DISCO, which first moved to Austin in 2018. Earlier this year, the legal software company opened a new HQ in downtown Austin. The company now occupies a 46,000-square-foot office that will house approximately 40 percent of its 600 employees. In addition to relocating, DISCO acquired several other companies this year and opened an office in New York City.
In June, cybersecurity startup [redacted] announced it would move its headquarters from San Francisco to Austin. The company also announced plans to hire 50 employees for its sales and technical departments this year. Prior to launching the cybersecurity startup, founder and CEO Max Kelly built Facebook’s security team and also worked at the National Security Agency.
Austin homeowners have seen their property valuations skyrocket over the past few years causing several real estate startups to move to the area, including Ownwell. The company relocated its HQ from Santa Monica to Austin back in April. Ownwell uses AI and machine learning to analyze home valuations and can tell if homeowners are overpaying in taxes. The service is free to use and Ownwell only charges customers if they save on their taxes as a result of its AI tool. The company’s move to Austin came after it increased its headcount by 700 percent.
